The ruling All Progressives Congress has dismissed speculation of an alleged crisis brewing in the camp of its governorship candidate in Edo State.

This was disclosed by the National Legal Adviser of the APC, Prof Abdulkareem Kana when he featured as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

Senator Monday Okpebholo polled 12,433 votes to defeat Dennis Idahosa, Dr Blessing Agbomhere, and nine other aspirants on February 22 to emerge Edo APC governorship candidate.

Although Idahosa had earlier rejected the result and called for a fresh election, the ruling party assured that the rift was settled after he emerged as the running mate to the Edo candidate.Related News

Speaking on Channels Television on Monday, Kana disclosed that as much as the ruling party has not been served with any legal court document, such reports will remain in the realm of speculations.

The national legal adviser also denied insinuation that the Edo APC was having internal conflicts.

He said, “The Edo primary has come and gone and we are preparing for the governorship election. The party in Edo State has elected a candidate who bears our flag at the moment. We almost had one or two persons who went to court. But they had pulled out and filed a notice to discontinue the cases.

“At the moment, we do not have any legal issue in court regarding the election. All the issues have been settled, particularly after the timely and robust intervention of Mr President who resolved all the different segments within the party in Edo.”
