Ondo firm donates food items to orphanages
A firm, Ondo-Lynyi Industry Limited, in the Odigbo Local Government Area Ondo of State has donated some food items to orphanages in the state.
Over 250 children in the orphanage homes are expected to benefit from the gesture.
The food items included bags of rice and packs of noodles among others.
The items were presented to the orphanages by the representatives of the company at the Ark Children Home at Ikota Community in Ifedore Local Government Area of the state, on Friday.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Public Relations Officer of the company, Mr Prince Adewale Omolayo, said the gesture was part of the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility.
He said, “We decided to extend hands of fellowship to the orphanages, I mean the Motherless Babies Home, around Ondo State, so we called together almost 10 orphanage homes to this place today to give out some palliatives to celebrate with them in this Yuletide season.
“We made arrangements for over 250 to 300 children, so you can see those things there, they are so many, and we have contacted the leadership of those homes across Akure and its environs and they promised us that they are going to bring them together today,
“I think each home will have about 20 to 30 or thereabouts, so some of them have arrived and we still waiting for some of them. We have a truckload of rice indomie and all the rest and cash.”
In his remarks, the Executive Director of the Emmanuel Children World Foundation, Mr Emmanuel Adaramola commended the firm for the gesture, saying it would go a long way in assisting the homes to take care of the children.
He said, “This is the first time we are partnering the company, and we do hope that this will be a continuous thing.
“Different organisations have been coming to offer assistance. On December 27, 2023, we have over 200 children here because we used to celebrate children here from rural and poor communities.
“So, we have children from about eight villages gathered here, especially those from the poor home that may not have chicken to eat during Christmas so what we do in those situations is that we make food items, party and other things.”
