Group demands peaceful Bayelsa governorship election
The Network of Bayelsa Professionals has called on the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to put adequate security in place to ensure a violent free election in the state.

The professionals lamented that elections in the state had always been characterised by violence, urging the security agencies will to address the scourge in the November 11 election.

Addressing journalists in Abuja on Friday, the group’s spokesperson, Deinmobofa Tantua urged politicians to refrain from making unguided utterances to avert violence in the election.

He said, “We call on the IGP and other security agencies to ensure a violent free election for the first time in the state.


This time, we are raising the alarm of violent plans by some politicians. In one of the party’s rallies, he vowed to take power by force.

“We cannot wave such threat aside. The antecedent of the man who made the threat is well known. We want peace in the state. Elections are not war and, that is the message we, as a group have been preaching.”

He also called on President Bola Tinubu not to interfere in the forthcoming governorship election in Bayelsa state.
