Mimiko Condemns Attack on St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo

The senseless attack on unarmed worshippers at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo in Ondo state, on Sunday morning is a condemnable act and it assaults our humanity and bludgeons our sensibilities.

I commisserate with the families of the victims. I have placed a call through to the Olowo to commiserate with him and the good people of Owo kingdom on the huge loss recorded from the attack. I have also contacted the state government to express my condolences and solidarity in the face of this unimaginable terror attack.

I urge the state government to mobilise all available healthcare assets to Owo and if need be, call for assistance from neighbouring states so as to save as many as possible of those who were wounded in the attack.

We stand with the government and people of Ondo State. We stand in solidarity with the Olowo, the people of Owo and the Catholic diocese of Ondo. We condemn this satanic attack in its entirety. As a matter of urgency, I urge government to apprehend and bring the perpetrators of this dastardly act to immediate justice.

We also call on our people to be alert and, vigilant so as to nip any illegality and repeat attack in the bud. We surely shall outlive and outlast the enemies of this land.

Signed;
Dr Olusegun Mimiko
Governor of Ondo State (2009 -2017)
