I Have Lost A Friend and Compatriot – Chief Olusola Oke
My friend, governor, and professional colleague, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, has danced the last earthly dance. Death took him when we were still praying and hoping for his recovery. We have all lost a leader, with imprints in the sand of time, in the delightful law profession, politics, governance and nation-building.
Even though death is the end of all mortals but not an end to an iconic leader of men, who manifested courage and fortitude at every crucial decision time in the inclement and rough terrain of life, and governance in particular. He did not only exhibit courage that emboldened him to take tough and beneficial decisions in government, he ensured the decisions were implemented, and fortified to endure. One of such decisions was the establishement of the Amotekun Security Newtwork.
For his leadership, he exhibited truth in totality, courage without despair, and left in our memory a legacy of service for the benefit of Ondo State, Nigeria, and humanity as a whole. He was a voice for all.
I commiserate with the family of the departed governor, our colleagues in the profession of law, the political class and the good people of Ondo state. No doubt, we have lost a fighter of just causes and compatriot.
Rest in peace, my governor, friend, and dear brother in the temple of justice. May God continue to be with your soul.
Chief Olusola Oke, SAN
