Govt trains workers in artificial intelligence


The Lagos State Civil Service Commission has organised a retreat to train its members in Artificial Intelligence for improved service delivery.

The chairman of the commission, Olubunmi Fabamwo, who spoke at the opening session of the three-day retreat which started on Tuesday at Dover Hotel, Ikeja said the retreat was designed to be collaborative and impactful for the participants as they would be exposed to the world of Artificial Intelligence.

“This retreat will further broaden the horizon of the participants and provide them with cutting-edge information on the current trends in technology called artificial intelligence. This is because technology will make it easier and faster for the commission to get to its desired destination in human resources management,” Fabamwo said.

While noting that the commission was the first to get the approval of the state government for the digitisation of its operations, the chairman added that plans are also being concluded to go into the second phase of the digitisation process of the activities of the commission.


She urged the participants to be open to new ideas, share their thoughts, and understanding, and ask questions, adding that at the end of the three-day retreat, the staff would be better informed, become better learners, and would be extremely satisfied.

Also speaking, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, charged the commission to formulate new proposals and reforms that would improve existential policies for proactive public service delivery.

Represented by the Chairman, House Committee on Establishments, Training, Pensions and Public Service, Oladele Ajayi, noted that the civil service commission had implemented different reforms in the past that endeared the Lagos State Public Service to other states of the federation.

He, however, called for a review of existing innovations by the commission, assuring that “the executive and legislative arms of government in the state will continue to improve their recruitment policy and implementation strategies through the various Service Commissions in the state.
