Over 210,000 People Sign Petition To Ban Marlian Records Over Singer, Mohbad’s Death
The controversy over the death of the singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as MohBad, has continued to gather momentum as more than 210,000 people have signed a petition calling for the ban of Marlian Records label owned by singer and rapper, Naira Marley, over the death of the music label’s former signee.
The death of the 27-year-old fast-rising singer on Tuesday who was buried on Wednesday has generated controversy across the country and beyond as there has been intense demand for investigation to unravel the actual cause of his death.
SaharaReporters on Friday reported that the Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command said it has commenced an investigation to determine the nature of Mohbad’s death and that the singer’s body might be exhumed from the grave for autopsy.
Following a petition of threat to life Mohbad submitted to the Lagos police before his death indicating that he was in a face off with Naira Marley, there have been mixed reactions to where the death of the deceased musician came from.
But SaharaReporters earlier reported that Naira Marley in a statement on Friday said that though there were disagreements that led to the late musician leaving the record label, he never wished any harm whatsoever on him.
Naira Marley who spoke for the first time on Friday since Mohbad died on Tuesday said that there are so many things that are left unsaid but the love for Mohbad was always there, adding that he is ready to assist the police in uncovering foul play around MohBad’s death.
However, a Change.org petition initiated by an anonymous blogger requesting that an investigation should be carried out on why Mohbad could not appear before the police after he was previously summoned over his squabbles with industry executives, has garnered over 210,000 signatures as of the time of filing this report on Saturday.
The petition called for a thorough investigation of the Marlian Music brand and Sam Larry Elegushi, the music promoter.
As the actual cause of Mohbad’s death remains unknown, Joseph Aloba, his father, had revealed that Mohbad died after an auxiliary nurse was invited to inject him.
