Insecurity: Zamfara Governor, Matawalle, Needs To Learn From His Ondo State Counterpart
While governors in some other parts of the country are putting up security architecture that could help combat the new dimensions of insecurity in the nation in recent time, the Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, chooses to send clerics to Saudi Arabia to pray against grave bandit invasion in the state.
This is coming after the governor had procured over 206 exotic SUVs for clerics and traditional rulers. That’s funny, right?!.
I think the Zamfara State Governor should take a cue from his counterparts in other states, like the Ondo State Governor who has instituted the AMOTEKUN Corps to curtail the security challenges within the state. One finds it difficult to come to term with the the Zamfara Governor’s tomfoolery of sending about 97 people on pilgrimage to pray against banditry, when the security situation in his state has deteriorated to such delicate level that he, himself, as the Chief Security Officer of the state is governing his state majorly from Abuja.
His counterparts in Ọ̀yọ́ and Ondo States are supporting and investing in the Amotekun Corps with a 100 Hilux while he chooses to support clerics with 206 exotic vehicles and sponsor PRAYER against what he is supposed to tinker and tackle.
This act by the governor has made Zamfara State a laughing stock. The State Governor needs to think out of the box to regain control over the security of the state through a well planned and tactical security structure.
