Aiyedatiwa commits N1bn to improve Ondo varsity’s infrastructure
The Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has stated that his administration will not relent in providing qualitative education to the people of the state.
The governor made this statement at the official groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Senate Building at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo town, on Friday.
Aiyedatiwa, who disclosed that N1 billion had been approved for the construction of the Senate building, emphasised that his administration was also committed to advancing education and healthcare delivery in the state.
“Health and education are two pillars that will always be prioritised by our administration because they are fundamental to sustainable development. In line with our goals, the state government will continue to support UNIMED in ways that will allow it to thrive.
“In a significant step towards improving the university’s infrastructure, we have committed N1 billion towards the construction of the university’s Senate Building on the main campus. I have already approved the release of the first tranche of N500 million from this amount.
“This is part of our broader commitment to support quality education and healthcare at all levels. The quality of infrastructure and human resources in an institution such as UNIMED is of utmost importance,” the governor stated.
Earlier in his address, the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Adesegun Fatusi, commended the governor for his significant financial contributions to the growth of the institution.
This, according to him, demonstrates the governor’s dedication to advancing the university’s infrastructure and overall success.
“I deeply acknowledge the support of our proprietor, the Ondo State Government, and that of our amiable leader, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Among others, I also acknowledge with gratitude the release of the sum of N250 million as a counterpart fund for the development of the Olu Akinkugbe Faculty of Pharmacy.
“We are also grateful to our governor for the approval of N1 billion for the construction of our Senate building and his commitment to ensuring the release of the funds,” said the VC.
