General Musa, Ndace, others receive security awards at SAEMA 2024
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, was honoured for his efforts on interagency collaboration and civil-military relations during the annual Security and Emergency Management Awards (SAEMA) in Abuja.
Organised by Image Merchants Promotion (IMPR), the event held at the Defence Headquarters celebrated outstanding individuals and organizations for significant contributions to security, crisis management, and emergency services.
In an address as the keynote speaker, General Musa emphasised the importance of civil-military alliance and cooperation among agencies in addressing contemporary security threats and ensuring long-term national stability.
The CDS articulated the military’s pivotal role in safeguarding Nigeria and reiterated their full support for government initiatives. “Robust leadership coordination has enhanced preparedness to tackle complex security challenges,” he added.
Director General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Jibrin Baba Ndace, representing the Minister of Information and National Orientation, lauded the Armed Forces for steadfast dedication to national security and loyalty to democratic principles.
IMPR Chief Executive Officer, Yushau Shuaib stated that the selection for SAEMA, which includes thorough verification to authenticate the accomplishments of shortlisted candidates, was rigorous and transparent.
“The nomination process draws input from stakeholders, PRNigeria, and Emergency Digest readers. A panel of security experts, industry professionals, and independent observers ensures that deserving individuals and organizations are honored for their achievements,” he said.
“This year’s winners have exemplified outstanding contributions to national security and stability. One of the winners in 2023, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), later won the SABRE Awards in Côte d’Ivoire and the Golden World Award in Belgrade.”
The 2024 SAEMA recipients: Major General Waidi Shuaibu, Theatre Commander North-East – Outstanding Military Officer; ACC Umar Abubakar, Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) – Outstanding Crisis Communicator; CIS Mohammed Adamu, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) – Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer; ACC Attah John Onoja, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) – Outstanding Security Officer.
Nigeria Police Force (NPF) – Crime Prevention; National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) – Public Information Management; Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) – Cybercrime Prevention; National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) – Emergency Management; Nigerian Navy (NN) – Community Service; Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) – Diligent Investigation.
