AAUA Gets NUC Approval for Nine New Programmes, Including Nursing, MLS, and Public Health
Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to launch new undergraduate programs in Nursing Science, Public Health, and Medical Laboratory Science, effective from the 2024/2025 academic session. These programs will be housed in the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences.
According to a statement by Mr. Victor Akinpelumi, Head of Information, Protocol, and Public Relations, the NUC also approved other programs, including Cyber Security, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, and Information Systems in the Faculty of Computing, as well as Food Science and Technology in the Faculty of Agriculture.
The approval follows a thorough evaluation and verification process by NUC experts, who assessed the university’s readiness to offer the new programs. In a letter dated September 6, 2024, NUC’s Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, notified the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, of the approval.
Prof. Ige expressed his excitement and gratitude, describing the development as a “fitting icing on the cake” of the university’s efforts. He confirmed that admission for qualified candidates would commence immediately for the new programs, as outlined in the NUC’s letter. The Vice Chancellor also assured that the university has the necessary resources to deliver high-quality education and produce globally competitive graduates.
He congratulated the university community for their efforts and cooperation, saying, “We are proud of this achievement and thank every stakeholder who made it possible.”
