The Kaduna State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Felix Hyat, has cautioned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, against actions that could harm the party he helped to build.

Hyat, a former Aviation Minister, made this appeal during an interview with our correspondent in Kaduna on Tuesday.

He urged the former Rivers State governor to seek resolution through dialogue rather than threatening PDP governors who support Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.

The chairman’s plea comes amidst the ongoing crisis within the party, which has seen Wike issuing threats against PDP governors supporting his successor.

Addressing party members on Saturday during the PDP Congress in Port Harcourt, Wike threatened to cause a political crisis in the states of any PDP governor who interfered in the party’s affairs in the South-South state.

However, Hyat argued that the governors have a valid reason to be involved, as Fubara is their colleague.

He recalled, “Wike should remember that when he was a governor, his colleagues always had his back, and they protected each other.

“Nothing has changed in that regard. Instead of telling governors to stay away, Wike should have seen it from this perspective and sought their support.

“I strongly believe it’s wrong to tell people to stay away when a system they are meant to benefit from is under threat. If the system fails, everyone loses.

“I don’t think it’s right to say or do something that could lead to such an outcome.”

Hyat urged the former Rivers helmsman not to destroy the party he helped nurture, stressing that dialogue and reconciliation are essential to resolving the ongoing crisis within the party.
