Bauchi distributes grains, cows, rams for Sallah celebration

The Bauchi State Government has commenced the distribution of over 23,000 bags of assorted grains donated by the Federal Government as another phase of palliatives to the citizens.

It also gifted 20 cows as well as 50 rams as the state sallah package to religious organisations, reputable ulamas, as well as other individuals and groups.

Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Bala Mohammed noted that the state government is committed to ensuring that the distribution process of the palliative is conducted with utmost transparency, as a monitoring committee has been set up to supervise the exercise.

The governor who was represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajara Yakubu Wanka explained that “the distribution is in collaboration with the Federal Government’s aid agencies such as the National Emergency Management Agency.

“There are also plans to make the palliatives cover all the needed beneficiaries.”

Thus, he tasked the entire Muslim ummah in the state to use the Eid Kabir period to pray for leaders on the current economic crises, saying his administration is committed to finding lasting solutions to the challenges facing the state and the country in general.

In a remark, while handing over the grains, the Director General, NEMA, who was represented by the Assistant Director, Zonal Office, Maiduguri, Mr. Yakubu Sulaiman informed that “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the release of 100,000 metric tonnes to bring succour to the people.

“President Tinubu is not unmindful of the economic downturn in the country,ŕ and his administration is taking viable measures to arrest the situation,” Sulaiman further noted.

Arewa PUNCH reports that items distributed included 9,200 bags of maize, 3,800 bags of sorghum, and 10,400 bags of millet.
