Wellspring varsity appoints new DVC, registrar

In its quest to boost its administration and management, Wellspring University, Benin City, has appointed new Deputy Vice Chancellor and Registrar.

In a statement by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Isaac Ajayi, the new DVC, Patrick Ohikhena, and Registrar, Dr Helen Wara, would bring their wealth of experience to improve the administration of the school, expressing confidence in their capacities to turn Wellspring into a world class institution.

The statement reads, “Wellspring University has appointed Professor Patrick Ohikhena to the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Helen Wara as the Registrar.

“I am satisfied at the antecedents of the new appointees and I am confident in their capacities to turn Wellspring into a world class institution.

“The new DVC is a Professor of Business Administration; a consummate administrator, whose wealth of experience has greatly impacted Wellspring University and his passion for scholarship and teaching in the Department of Business Administration, of the institution has remained invaluable.’’

“Professor Ohikhena holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Management from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Benin and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.

“A scholar per excellence, Ohikhena has published over 30 works in management and business in reputable peer-reviewed local and international journals, and a book on research methodology in the social and management sciences.

Behaviour, and Human Resource Management, while his current research work is on “Family Business in Nigeria and Africa: Towards Contributing to the Evolving African Management Thought and Philosophy.

“He has also attended local and international conferences, including the recent international conference on curriculum development and planning in the 21st century, in South Africa.

The VC added, “The Registrar, Dr. Wara, is a thoroughbred professional with a strong academic background and extensive experience in university administration. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management from Covenant University, Masters in Business Administration from Lagos State University and Crawford University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University.

“Dr. Wara has held various administrative positions in prestigious institutions such as Covenant University, Afe Babalola University and Havilla University. Her roles have included acting Registrar, Director of Admissions, Student Affairs and Establishment, Head of Academic Affairs, Hospital Administrator, among others.

“In addition to her administrative roles, Dr. Wara has also been involved in teaching as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Business Administration. Her research interests include internal branding, competitive advantage in private universities, employee satisfaction, customer satisfaction, and productivity in service quality, among others. She has published several research papers in reputable journals and has actively participated in various university committees and special assignments.

“The new Registrar is a member of professional bodies such as the Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators and the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators.”
