Ekiti diaspora group donates equipment to hospital
A diaspora group, Egbe Omo Otun Abroad, has said that its intervention in the General Hospital, Otun Ekiti in the Moba Local Government area of Ekiti State, is to address equipment deficit so that their people at home can enjoy good healthcare services.
The group’s president, Alhaji Tiamiyu Salau, who said the intervention followed a critical shortage of basic amenities at the general hospital, said, “Considering the impact of such on members of the community seeking medical care, we knew immediate action was necessary”.
Salau, represented by the immediate past president, Dr Abiodun Orisasona, during the presentation of the items to the hospital at Otun Ekiti on Friday, said “The donation will significantly improve the patients’ experience”.
The items included 20 ultra-modern single crank beds, designed for optimal patients’ comfort and ease of care, 20 matching bedside cabinets providing essential storage and convenience and 20 high-quality mattresses and pillows, ensuring proper support and rest for patients.
Others are 105 sets of crisp bed sheets, fostering an environment of dignity and care, two units of Sphygmomanometers for blood pressure monitoring, two units of baby weight machines for accurate weight measurement and five units of baby cribs with 20 sets of bedsheets, providing a safe and comfortable space for our children.

Salau, who recalled that the group donated some beds to the facility in 1999, urged the hospital management and patients to make good use of the materials “to enable individuals seeking medical attention at the hospital to receive it with comfort and dignity”.
The Oore of Otun, Oba Adekunle Adeagbo, expressed delight at the gesture of the Egbe Omo Otun Abroad for giving back to their town, saying, “This is an act of patriotism that will have long-lasting impacts on our community and as well improve the health care standard of the people”.
The Permanent Secretary, of Ekiti State Hospitals Management Board, Dr Olasunkanmi Alabi, represented by the Director of Medical Services, Dr Moses Afuye, lauded the group for the kindness, restated commitment to ensure that medical facilities were in good condition for the health benefit of patients.
The Chairman, of Moba Local Government, Mr Bamidele Fadugba and the Iyaloja of Otun-Ekiti, Chief Felicia Onifade, expressed optimism that the gesture would have a positive effect on the lives of the residents.
