Facebook, Twitter see billions in losses after banning President Donald J. Trump
If Facebook and Twitter continue to bleed financially, we’ll likely soon find out what Big Tech cares more about — money or control.
The two social media powerhouses have lost a combined $51 billion in market cap since they banned President Donald J. Trump.
Facebook suffered most of the loss, seeing $47.6 billion disappear. That makes Twitter’s $3.5 billion downturn look minimal.
Users have been moving to alternative social media sites in droves — MeWe, Gab, CloutHub, Parler (before it was illegally shut down).
Even if Facebook and Twitter realize the error in their ways, it will likely be a temporary come-together moment.
Conservatives should continue using the platforms available to them while hurrying to find a permanent solution.
