Katsina electoral body promises fair LG poll

The Chairman of the Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission, Lawal Al-Hassan Faskari, has reiterated the commission’s commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, and acceptable local government election scheduled for February 15, 2025.

Faskari made this statement during the opening ceremony of a two-day orientation and training workshop organised for the newly recruited 21 Electoral Officers in Katsina.

He explained that the workshop was designed to equip the new officers with essential knowledge on their roles and responsibilities before, during, and after the upcoming elections.

“The training is aimed at preparing the newly recruited Electoral Officers for the tasks ahead of the local government elections scheduled for February 15, 2025, In-Sha-Allah,” Faskari said.Related News

The 21 new officers were recruited to fill vacancies left by retiring staff within the commission.

Faskari pledged that the commission would continue to adhere strictly to the procedures, rules, and regulations outlined in the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended), the State Electoral Laws, and other relevant legislation governing the conduct of elections.

He urged the trainees to remain attentive and fully engage in the orientation programme, emphasising the importance of adhering to due processes as outlined by the law.
