Body celebrates 35 years of impact in Nigeria – The Nation Newspaper
Pest Control Association of Nigeria (PECAN) has celebrated its 35 years with training, highlighting three decades of contributions to safe environment.
The training, “35 years of protecting health and safety: Leading the way in environmental excellence and shaping the future of pest control in Nigeria”, is to prepare members for challenges of the profession and macroeconomic environment.
The three-in-one event provided a platform for the group to hold its AGM and awards to review the past, present and future.
Thirty members were inducted, while those who contributed to growth of the association were rcognised.
National President, Olakunle Williams, reiterated the group’s commitment to innovation, expansion and excellence, saying the association would strengthen partnerships, broaden its reach and invest in development of members to meet evolving challenges.
Among keynote speakers were Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Orkin Nigeria Ltd, Terungwa Abari.
He delivered a paper: “Pest control and public health – Building a safer Nation”, while Dr Tade Adeniyi Olanrewaju spoke on: “Strategies for effective partnerships with farmers, government and NGOs to create more robust pest management system”, among others.
Mr Lewis Gregory Adeyemi of LASEPA’s presentation focused on: “Current trends in chemical handling and warehousing regulatory oversite” while the last speaker , EHCON Registrar, Dr. Baba Mohammed, presented lecture on: “Building resilience in pest control through effective risk management and crisis preparedness”.
