Makinde, Sultan, South West Govs for MUSWEN General Assembly
Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde, Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, South West Governors and other prominent Nigerians are expected on Sunday at the grand finale of the 9th General Assembly of Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The programme is slated to hold at Islamic Centre of the Central Mosque, University of Ibadan (UI).
Speaking in Ibadan at a briefing MUSWEN President, who doubles as the Deputy-President General (South) of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, said the event will also have in attendance eminent Muslim personalities across Southwest.
The General Assembly is the highest decision-making body of MUSWEN, comprising representatives from member organizations and the Central Working Committee.Related News
According to Oladejo, the gathering will provide platform for Muslim leaders from the Southwest to discuss critical issues affecting their communities.
He stated that focus of the organisation include zero tolerance for out of school children, economic empowerment and poverty alleviation, good health and well-being, provision of bursary and scholarship award.
Others are: partnering with governments at all levels on good governance, bridging the Gap between rich and the downtrodden, collaborating with other Muslim bodies in Nigeria and world at large among others interventions for making lives of Muslims better and fulfilled.
He said MUSWEN has recorded some modest achievements since inception in 2008 which the organisation intends to take higher in coming years.
