The Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Babatunde Ajayi, on Wednesday, emphasised the use of culture to foster peace and unity and boost economic integration for the well-being of the people.

Ajayi made this disclosure during a press conference held at his palace in Sagamu, Ogun State, to announce the celebration of the maiden Remo Day Festival in December 2025.

The monarch, represented by the Elepe of Epe, Sagamu, Adewale Osiberu, stated that the idea of the annual Remo Day Festival was conceived to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of all 43 Remo towns while also deepening their unity and economic integration.

Ajayi said, “This is what we have always wanted to do. We have seen what our children are doing in the UK, and we said we should create a bigger platform back home to strengthen our bond and unity as we celebrate our rich cultural heritage as Remo people.

“This festival is for all the sons and daughters of Remo Land, both at home and abroad. It is designed to be a rallying point to collaborate and advance the socio-economic development of all the communities in Remo Land. The festival will be a boost for cultural reawakening, and so I urge everyone to support this initiative and make it a successful celebration.

“The festival is planned for December, and we expect all sons and daughters of Remo Land to come with their children and friends to celebrate this annual festival with us. It is one strong way to connect with our roots and see how we can further take the development of Remo Land to greater heights.”

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr Wole Sowole, said the festival is being organised by the Remo Growth and Development Foundation as instructed by the monarch.

He noted that the festival will feature an art exhibition showcasing the uniqueness of the people, their accomplishments, culture, and traditions of each Remo community, as well as an art competition for secondary schools, among other activities.

In his remarks at the event, the Chairman of the Remo Development Growth Foundation, Seni Adetu, said the group is dedicated to driving socio-economic development across Remo Land.
