Adeleke pledges support for federal institutions in Osun
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday stated that his administration would continue to support Federal Government establishment and institutions located in the state.
Adeleke spoke in Osun Government House, Osogbo, while receiving members of the Governing Council and the management of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, who had paid him a courtesy visit.
The governor, who recalled how agitation by the Ede community led to the establishment of the polytechnic, said since the school was founded, indigenes of the host community, had been contributing to nurturing it.
He advised that residents of the host community should be engaged in the execution of projects by the institution’s management, as that would give them a sense of belonging and enhance the growth of the local economy.
“It was the positive agitation of the people of the community that led to the establishment of the institution.
“And since its establishment, the people of the community have been contributing to the growth and the development of the Polytechnic. We will continue to support the polytechnic and other federal institutions in the state,” the governor said.
Earlier in his remarks, the institution’s Governing Council chairman, Prof. Taiwo Olaiya, urged Adeleke to give a landmark project to the institution.
Olaiya said the purpose of the visit was to present the new Governing Council members to the governor.
He added, “We want to appeal to the governor to do something magnificent in the institution which we will remember you for.
“Just the way your family has been contributing to the growth of the institution, we need you to put a structure in the school, which will be named after you.”
