Eid maulud: Pray for Nigeria, speaker Abbas urges Muslims
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has congratulated Muslims as they celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, marking the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, the Speaker urged Muslims to use the occasion to pray for the peace and prosperity of the country.
“The Speaker calls for prayers for Nigeria and its political, religious, and traditional leaders, especially from Islamic faithful,” noting that “the country needs divine intervention in its affairs at this critical stage of our national life,” the statement read in part.
Describing Prophet Muhammad as an embodiment of peace and unity, Speaker Abbas urged Muslims to follow his teachings, “which emphasise godliness, obedience to authority, and sacrifice.”
