Sokoto to present N119bn supplementary budget to assembly
The Sokoto State Executive Council, on Wednesday, approved the sum of N119 billion supplementary budget for submission to the state House of Assembly.
The council also approved the sum of N17.9 billion for the reconstruction of roads in the state.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the Executive meeting on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, Balarabe Kadadi, explained that the budget contained inflows from NG-CARES, L-Press, Agile, Palliative fund from LG, Ecological and Excess Crude Oil.
He said, “The proposal would be presented to the state House of Assembly for approval.
“The state Executive council also approved the sum of N11.8 billion for the reconstruction of 40.7 kilometres Illela-Gada road, with another N3.2 billion approved for the construction of Wurno-Huchi road”.
The State Commissioner of Information, Bello Dabchadi, in his remarks, noted that the projects were parts of the promises made by the Governor during his local government tours.
“The roads were of economic importance to the state with another sum of N2.9 billion approved for the construction of Romo bridge,” he stated
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Dr Jabir Maihula, revealed that the sum of N156.7 million was approved for the rehabilitation of the oldest Islamiyya school in the state.
