A human rights activist and Convener of the Recover Nigeria Project, Osita Obi, has commended the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for the “developmental and transformational changes” in the state.

Obi praised the governor for undertaking laudable projects across the state.

He made this statement on Friday while leading journalists on a tour of some of the ongoing and completed projects by the Soludo administration throughout the state.

He explained that he led the journalists to inspect all the completed projects within the Awka metropolis and surrounding communities to ensure they could see the developments and effectively communicate them to the people of Anambra.

He said, “During his governorship campaign in 2022, Soludo promised the people of Anambra that if he won the election, he would transform the state into something akin to Dubai and Taiwan.

“Indeed, since the governor eventually won the election, he has left no stone unturned in fulfilling his promises to the people of Anambra, particularly in infrastructural development, rural transformation, health, education, water schemes, rural electrification, sports, among others.”

The governor has been celebrated by the people of Anambra for his significant strides in rehabilitating multiple water schemes in various communities and cities, providing free education for primary school children, employing teachers, and promoting massive youth employment through the ‘One Youth, Two Skills’ initiative, as well as upgrading health facilities in the state.

During the project inspection tour, journalists visited some newly completed roads, including those in Ugbenu, Awba-Ofemili, Amansea, and Ebenebe.

Obi, speaking after inspecting the projects, said he decided to bring journalists on the tour to enable them to have a first-hand assessment of the Soludo administration.

“As a private citizen, I decided to see things for myself so that I could communicate with the people of Anambra. I am impressed and overwhelmed. Soludo is fantastic and wonderful. Therefore, I now fully concur. The only thing I ask of Anambra citizens is to give him more time. Let them not disrupt this radical transformation,” Obi added.

Some of the residents of the areas, who spoke in separate interviews, expressed satisfaction that the current administration has positively impacted their communities through the developmental projects.

A resident of Awba-Ofemili, Mr Oreke Chinedu, said that, before now, the roads in the community were not accessible but noted that Soludo had saved them with his intervention.

Chinedu mentioned that life has improved in the area due to the accessible roads, adding that investors are now coming to buy land from them.

Similarly, another local, Chief Ambrose Nweke, noted that previous governments did not remember their community until now, and he stated that they would vote for Soludo in his second term.
Other projects inspected included the construction of the Aroma Flyover, the renovation of Alex Ekwueme Square, the construction of Soludo Fun City, and the construction of the new Government House.

At Alex Ekwueme Square, Engr. Chidi Paul disclosed that the project would be completed within ten months.

Likewise, the Special Adviser to Soludo on Special Projects, Dr Ebuka Nwankwo, stated that the new Government House under construction is well-designed and would increase the productivity of the people of Anambra.
