PDP chieftain urges Adeleke to shun distractions
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Segun Showunmi, has urged the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to shun distractions and focus on his deliberate plans to serve the state’s people.
Showunmi also challenged other state governors to use the huge resources at their disposal to develop their states.
He disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday.
He said his visit to Osun State on Wednesday to felicitate the governor’s wife, Ngozi Adeleke, who turned 51, was an eye-opener to the various projects done by the Adeleke-led administration.
He said, “I arrived in Osun State yesterday to join well-meaning Nigerians to celebrate the wife of the Executive Governor of Osun State, Her Excellency, Erelu Ngozi Abeni Adeleke.
“Honestly, I was not expecting much from the governor of Osun State in terms of projects, because the best the media has been projecting about him was just his Davidic nature, the dancing swag.
“With little hope, I asked one of his men to show me Governor Ademola Adeleke’s projects in the state, then what I saw wowed me. I hope the governor will remain focused to dot the i’s and cross the t’s, and not be distracted by political opportunists.”
Showunmi noted that such projects have a “great capacity to influence the living standard of the people positively.
“At some points, I got lost because when you get much from where you have little or no expectation, you are likely to suffer what is called momentary freezing. To develop our country, we must develop the states,” he added.
Showunmi, who said he spent three hours to catch a glimpse of Adeleke’s achievements in office, listed some of these achievements to include the construction of the Osun Akoda-Ede Road, Oshogbo-Ibadan-Iwo Road, Lameco Bridge, among others.
