A group of youths under the aegis of the Take It Back Movement staged a protest march in Osogbo, Osun State, on Saturday, demanding an investigation into the deaths of several participants in the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest.

The protesters initially assembled at Olaiya Junction, Osogbo, as security operatives took over Freedom Park, which had been planned as the original convergence point.

After relocating to Olaiya Junction, the protesters, armed with a large banner bearing the inscription ‘End Bad Governance in Nigeria,’ were addressed by the spokesperson for the Take It Back Movement in the state, Victor Lijofi.

They then proceeded along Fagbewesa Street before returning to their starting point and dispersing.

Despite the presence of the protesters, traffic flowed freely, and business activities continued unhindered.

Speaking for the protesters, Lijofi said, “The government should address the initial demands of the End Bad Governance Protest that took place between August 1st and 10th.Related News

“The government should investigate the cases of extra-judicial killings of protesters that occurred during the protest.

“Nigerian security agencies should immediately release the protesters who were arrested and detained.

“The government should cease the intimidation of protesters across the country.

“Instead of funding attacks against peaceful protesters, the government should redirect its efforts towards addressing hunger and poverty.”

Lijofi also stressed that if the Federal Government fails to address these demands, the group will continue its protest in October.
