Brume set sight on Germany camp for Paris 2024
Newly crowned African women’s long jump champion , Ese Brume, has revealed that her next target is to perform very well at the Olympic Games camping in Dusseldorf, Germany after she won a gold medal at the 23rd African Senior Athletics championships in Douala, Cameroon.
Brume who admitted that it was no stroll in the park for her to winning the gold medal in Douala, Cameroon hinted that she would do her best to remain very competitive in Germany to arrive in Paris, France with high hope as she targets another Olympics medal.
“I’m excited winning the gold medal here, but It was pretty competitive irrespective of the distance,” ever-smiling Brume told AFN media. “But I am glad I was able to get the gold.”
Delta State-born Ese Brume, who is the current commonwealth champion, jumped 6.73m to capture the gold medal on Monday evening to increase Nigeria’s gold to three before the women’s 4x100m relay grabbed one.
The achievement in Douala gave Brume her fourth African senior championship title. She holds a personal best of 7.17m. Brume is also a two-time medalist at the world athletics championship, an Olympic bronze medalist and a five-time African junior champion in long jump.
Brume also revealed in Douala that she would be joining Team Nigeria for the Olympic camp in Germany alongside her coach Yahaya Kayode.
“I will continue to work with my coach to ensure I make a better performance at the Olympics Games.”
