Eid-el-Kabir: Kingibe felicitates Nigerians, urges commitment from leaders
The Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, Ireti Kingibe, on Sunday congratulated Nigerians, particularly Muslims, on the occasion of the the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
This was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Kennedy Mbele
The lawmaker also called on Nigerians, especially leaders to reflect and emulate Prophet Ibrahim’s virtues of sacrifice.
According to her, there is an inherent lesson to learn in the manner the holy Prophet Mohammed wanted to sacrifice his only son, Issah, without hesitation and how Allah subsequently blessed him exceedingly; making him the father of all nations.
The senator also appealed to the affluent in society to allow the poor in their midst to breathe.
She said, “The gap between the rich and the poor in this country is inexplicable. The rich must therefore make some meaningful sacrifices to reduce the vast gap. For progress to be made in life, some valuables must be given up for the sake of other considerations.
“I wish everyone a peaceful and unifying Eid-el-Kabir celebration.”
While praying for the safety of all faithful on pilgrimage in Mecca, the senator saluted her constituents in Abuja for their accommodating nature.
“Being one another’s keeper was imperative in achieving peace anywhere, especially in a heterogeneous setting like the nation’s capital, Abuja,” she stated.
