Nigerian gospel artistes star in faith-based movie, Chains
Nigerian gospel artists Onos Ariyo, Solomon Lange, Naomi Mac, and Tayo Christian are set to shine in the upcoming faith-based film “Chains – No Longer A Slave.”
The film, written and directed by Bright Wonder Obasi, is said to be a transformative experience for audiences, merging the worlds of gospel music and film in an inspiring and emotional drama.
Obasi in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, said the movie which explores the struggles and triumphs within the gospel music industry, will premiere in Abuja and Lagos before its nationwide theatrical release on August 16, 2024.
He added that the film, set in the contemporary gospel music ministry and the wider music industry, tells the story of a gospel artiste’s journey to reconcile his faith with the pressure of the industry.
Obasi explained that the film’s narrative focuses on “God’s overwhelming love and the eternal quest for a lost soul,” delving into the internal conflicts that arise when pursuing one’s dreams in a challenging world.
Obasi highlighted the film’s mission to illuminate God’s love and its potential to inspire change.
He stated, “Films have become more influential in shaping societal norms and values than even the Sunday School classroom. Every piece of content drives an agenda. Since darkness is merely the absence of light, the problem with the world is not the darkness itself but the failure of light-bearers to shine in the marketplace.
“CHAINS features a stellar cast, including Apostle Anselem Madubuko, Chioma Odimba (Ccioma), Flora Solomon Lange, Apostle Tayo Christian, Naomi Mac Paladini, Anne Ekueme, Jayclef Adewale, Henry Ned, and Gideon Ibeabuchi. The film employs high-end equipment and stunning locations, showcasing a blend of professional filmmaking and spiritual devotion.”
He added, “Distributed by Silverbird Distribution, “CHAINS” will premiere in Abuja and Lagos before its nationwide release on August 16, 2024. The film will then tour internationally, reaching audiences across Africa, the US, UK, Canada, and more.
“This movie aims to stir a revolution in the film industry by bringing God’s love to mainstream distribution. If people knew how much God loves them and the lengths He would go to ensure they have a good life, they would be drawn to Him and love Him
“Gospel Cinema International, the production company behind “CHAINS,” is dedicated to motion picture evangelism. Partnering with High Definition Film Studio, known for its technical excellence and artistic vision, Gospel Cinema International aims to create wholesome entertainment that upholds the truth of God’s word in a morally challenging society,” he stated.
Obasi stressed the importance of community support for the success of the venture.
He asserted, “The earnest expectation of creation eagerly awaits the manifestation of the sons of God. God’s children must rise to establish the Kingdom Culture in mainstream distribution.
“CHAINS – No Longer A Slave” is more than just a film; it is a beacon of light and a call to action for believers to transform society through faith and film. The movie promises to be an inspiring, emotionally captivating, and societally impactful experience that brings the love of God to the forefront of cinema.”
