Prof. Olotuah to deliver AAUA’s 23rd inaugural lecture, titled “Biodiversity and Resilience: A Shield against Pests.”
Olanrewaju Folusho Olotuah, a distinguished professor of Crop/Pest Management, is set to deliver the 23rd Inaugural Lecture of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria. The lecture, titled “Biodiversity and Resilience: A Shield against Pest”, is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
According to a statement by the Chairman of the University Ceremonies Committee and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin.), Prof. Adebisi Daramola, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, will chair the event. The lecture will take place at the University Multipurpose Hall, commencing at 2:00 pm, with guests urged to be seated by 1:30 pm.
Prof. Olotuah holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Botany from the then Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti, and a Master of Technology (Crop Entomology), and Doctor of Philosophy (Crop Management) Degrees from Federal University of Technology, Akure.
He joined the services of Adekunle Ajasin University in 2001 as an Assistant Lecturer. He subsequently rose through the ranks and was appointed a Professor in the year 2017.
Prof. Olotuah is a winner of several grants including, Adekunle Ajasin University, Conference Grant to attend XVI International Plant Protection Congress, Glasgow, Scotland, UK, October 2017, University Conference Grant to attend Cropworld Congress, ExCel, London 2010; ETF Conference Grant to American Phytopathological Society Congress, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, 2011; University Grant to Fusarium Head Blight Forum, Orlando Florida, USA, 2012; TETFUND Grant to American Phytopathological Society Congress, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, 2014 and American Phytopathological Society (APS) International Book for The World Award, Pasadena, California, USA, August 2015.
Prof. Olotuah’s prolific academic career is marked by contributions to five books, three edited journals, and over 50 articles in learned journals. While he has completed 14 research efforts and five others are on-going, he has also presented papers at more than 25 local and international conferences.
