NIMC: Five ways to apply for latest multipurpose National ID card
The National Identity Commission (NIMC) has introduced a new card packed with various features, including payment functions tailored for a wide range of social and financial services.
According to NIMC, this card is designed to address the need for physical identification by allowing cardholders to verify their identity and gain access to government and private social services.
Here are five simple ways to apply for the multipurpose National ID card:
- Visit the nearest bank or a bank-approved center to request a payment card linked to your identity.
- Provide your NIN details for identity verification to confirm you are over 18 years old.
- The bank will securely transmit your NIN to the NIMC for verification and receive the necessary authorized identity data in the required format.
- Once the bank has the verified identity data, they will use it to securely generate the EMV data for the payment card, which will then be personalized and printed by a partner bureau before issuance.
- The bank then issues the finished card to you.
