Aiyedatiwa’s Claim of Presidential Endorsement: A Joke Taken Too Far
There is an adage in Yorùbá parlance that says, ‘ajègbodò tó n wá ẹni kún ‘ra’, which literally translates to the rejected seeking for non-extant relevance. In the desperate attempt by the incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyédatiwa of Ondo State to create a larger than life innuendo of the acceptability of his candidacy in the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primaries in the Sunshine State slated to hold in about 2 weeks from now, the man walking now with an anathema dangling around his neck is oiling a propaganda out there to create a false impression of himself. His latest lergedemain is to create a pseudo or what we call sham mirage of a ‘presidential endorsement’, typical of beguilers and/or defalcators.
We are not oblivious of the many attempts of the Governor to engage in name-dropping of Mr. President into tricking people to believe in his many humbug aimed at whetting his already battered candidacy. Unbeknownst to Mr. Governor that his endless attempts at hoodwinking the public are dead on arrival. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR as a consummate politician with decades of experience is not an abecedarian in the game of politics. As a bat cruising on an altitude of the highest degree above the sea level, he sees it all. He can spot the handwriting of a desperado on the wall. And will never kowtow to such faux pas.
For a Governor who has become an object of laughter among party members and critical stakeholders in the State to continue to engage in whitewashing of his damaged image in the public space amounts to running wild goose chase. ‘Aṣọ ò bá ọmọ́yẹ mọ́. Ọmọ́yẹ ti rin ìhòhò wọ’jà’ (it is sheer waste of time to cry over a spilt milk). How the Governor could think Mr. President would endorse his candidacy with many baggages that would throw the State into an opposition state is the most ridiculous political miscalculation in recent years. President Tinubu, as a democrat will NE’ER play such dangerous game. All that is out there is mere name-dropping to exculpate the Governor who has lost acceptability from within his political family as well as the public.
We will, however, like to excoriate in strong terms, Governor Aiyédatiwa’s continuous attempts at dragging Mr. President into his near-dead ambition of extending his stay at the Alágbàká Government House. President Tinubu has given all 16 aspirants level playing ground to go about their campaigns to the party faithful without fear or favour. Mr. Governor should let Mr. President breathe as there is NO PRESIDENTIAL ENDORSEMENT anywhere.
The public is by this Press Release advised to ignore, in totality, the attempt by the Governor on AWOL in the Sunshine State to bamboozle it into believing the chicanery of a never-exisiting endorsement from The Presidency. The public should not be led by the nose by a man desperate to remain afloat of a self-inflicted political murky waters.
