Abba Moro heads Ondo PDP ward congress committee
The Peoples Democratic Party is set to hold its Ward Congress on Monday, April 8, to elect three ad-hoc delegates per ward, one of whom must be female, across all 203 wards in Ondo State, as part of preparations for its governorship primary election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission set November 16, 2024, as the scheduled date for the state governorship election.
According to the PDP’s timetable, the party’s congress, where its governorship candidate will emerge, will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
The sale of expression of interest, nomination forms, and ad-hoc forms commenced on March 7 and concluded on March 21.
The aspirants who purchased the forms and were cleared by the party are the former state deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, Akinwumi Adeolu, Bamidele Akingboye, Olusola Ebiseni, Kolade Akinjo, Bosun Arebuwa and John Mafo.
The PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on Saturday, disclosed that the party’s National Working Committee had appointed Abba Moro and Nheoma Ndu respectively as Chairman and Secretary of the Ondo State Ward Congress Electoral Committee.
The statement read in part, “The National Working Committee of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, has approved the nomination of the under listed party members to serve as members of the Ondo State Ward Congress Electoral Committee to conduct the three-man ad-hoc ward congress for the purpose of electing three ad-hoc delegates per ward (one of whom shall be a woman) in each of the 203 wards of Ondo State
“The ward congress is scheduled to hold at the ward secretariats in each of the 203 wards on Monday, April 8, 2024.”
Other members of the committee include Tom Zakari, Issaiah Makinde and Chief David Vaughan.
The PDP NWC charged all governorship aspirants, leaders, critical stakeholders, and members of the party in Ondo State to take note and be guided accordingly.
