Firm prepares students for post-campus opportunities
Organisers of a summit for undergraduate students have said participants will gain insights that will prepare them for available opportunities outside the campus.
The summit themed ‘Shaping the Future: Positioning for Success Beyond Campus’, according to the organisers, Noved Africa, is expected to bring about 5000 students together in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The Project Lead for Noved Africa and one of the organisers of the summit, Damilola Mogaji, on Tuesday, said industry professionals and successful graduates would provide first-hand perspectives on career pathways and opportunities after graduation.
“Our goal is to catalyse growth and empower the next generation of leaders in Africa. We aim to equip students with the knowledge, mindset, and connections needed to take full control of their future,” Mogaji said in a statement sent to our correspondent.
The event to hold May 24, 2024, according to the firm, will focus on igniting an entrepreneurial mindset and guiding students along alternative career pathways in Africa’s fast-evolving job market.
“We understand the unique challenges African youths face in the transition from campus to the workforce arena. Our goal through the summit, the second edition, is to catalyse mindset shifts and equip students with tools to shape their future on their terms,” Mogaji added.
Graduates in Nigeria are confronted with job searches to stabilise themselves after campus.
Giving the prevalent unemployment rate in the country, stakeholders including government officials, have consistently urged youths to take up skills to set themselves up.
The FG and some state governments have nurtured this idea by training youths in soft or hard skills and equipping them with resources.
Earlier in March, the Chairman of Somolu Local Government Area of Lagos, Abdul-Hamed Salawu, in collaboration with Somolu Tech Innovation and an information technology start-up firm, Tech Shepherd, organised a second edition of training for youths in Information and Communications Technology in the area.
