Universities need to be proactive to meet the challenges of funding,” says UI VC
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, has said that it is very apparent that the 51 federal universities need to be proactive to meet the challenges of funding.
This, according to him, is because the federal government has to contend with so many issues, and it is, therefore, unable to meet the needs of the universities a hundred per cent.
He noted that the universities are at the threshold of the introduction of more education policies, which may make funding a bit harder.
He said this was why the University of Ibadan created the Office of Alumni Relations in order to deepen the University’s relationship with its alumni.
Professor Adebowale, who spoke at the unveiling of the signage donated to the Institute of Education, said the alumni are very dear to the University.
He appreciated the family of Professor Siyan Malomo, who donated the signage and the Director of the Institute for attracting the donation.
The Director of the Institute of Education, Professor J. A. Adegbile said the project was sponsored by the wife and children of late Professor Siyan Malomo, a one time Director of the Geological Survey Agency of Nigeria.
He described Professor Malomo as a great Uite and a great Independite who had always donated generously to the University.
