Osun bank guard bags 15 months jail term for stealing
A security guard working with a second-generation bank in Osogbo, Osun State, Ishola Olayiwola, was on Friday sentenced to 15 months jail term after he was found guilty of offences bordering on housebreaking and stealing.
Olayiwola had previously been arraigned before the court for stealing property worth N448,000 in a shop in Osogbo.
He was charged with housebreaking and stealing.
The details of the offences committed by the defendant, as contained in the charge sheet indicated that Olayiwola, being a security guard with the task of securing property in and around the banking premises in Osogbo, “did unlawfully break into the shop of one Yusuff Kazeem Deji ‘m’ and stole clothes, trousers, belts, and boxers valued N448,000.

During his previous arraignment, Olayiwola had pleaded guilty and was subsequently remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre.
Appearing before the court on Friday for his sentencing, Olayiwola, who had no legal representation, pleaded for leniency, saying the harsh economy made him engage in crime.
Delivering his judgment, however, Justice Mashkur Salisu, sentenced the defendant to 15 months imprisonment without the option of a fine
