The legendary Urhobo musician, Chief Daniel Iriferi, popularly known as Chief Sally Young is dead, aged 91.
PUNCH Online gathered that the famous Urhobo musician who hailed from Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State reportedly died on Sunday after a brief illness.
The Urhobo music maestro reigned in the 70s, 80s, 90s and early 2000s for his hit songs such as ‘Oko Oko’, ‘Weji Vwe Vwo’ and many others.
Chief Sally Young’s contribution to Urhobo music during that era added profound depth and meaning to Urhobo’s sociocultural heritage.
This helped establish him as an iconic figure in the musical landscape.
