Three notorious bandits terrorising Taraba and adjoining states have been killed by troops of the Nigerian Army, SaharaReporters was told.
The military reportedly engaged the terrorists on January 24 at Chibi village in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The Spokesperson for the 6 brigade of the Nigerian Army in Jalingo, Lieutenant Ooni, told SaharaReporters on Thursday that the troops also seized weapons and ammunition.
Ooni assured that the Nigerian Army was poised to ridding the state of violent crimes and terrorism.
He said, “In a recent operation by the gallant troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army deployed in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State yesterday, 24 January 2024, we achieved a significant victory by neutralising three notorious bandits.
“The successful mission also resulted in the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, a motorcycle used by the criminals, and a cache of 40 rounds of 7.62 MM special ammunition.
“The operation took place in Chibi village where the 6 Brigade troops, acting on actionable intelligence, conducted a precision strike against the criminal elements. The engagement demonstrated the troops’ unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in Taraba State.
“The Commander 6 Brigade, Brigadier Gen Kingsley Uwa, commended the troops for their bravery and efficiency in executing the operation. He emphasized the military’s determination to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety and well-being of the local population.”
