Group urges ex-lawmaker, Akinfolarin, to run for Ondo guber
As the race for Ondo State governorship election in 2024 gathers momentum with various interest groups and individuals squaring up for the contest, a group known as Ondo Emancipation Forum(OEF) has called on a former House of Representatives member, Honourable Mayowa Akinfolarin to contest the state’s governorship election in 2024.
Honourable Akinfolarin was also a former Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly.
Convener of the group, Olanrewaju Akinsola and a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said Akinfolarin’s tenure as lawmaker representing Ile Oluji Oke Igbo/Odigbo federal constituency, witnessed unprecedented development, effective and quality representation.
“Akinfolarin has the qualities required to govern a State having displayed those qualities as a member of the Green Chamber for eight years.
“In a country where quality representation is our bane, Akinfolarin was able to rise to the needs of the electorate that elected him through quality representation “
The former Deputy Speaker can best be described as someone who works compulsively to change the fortune of his constituents where he served at the state and national assembly”, the group said.
“He used his position as Chairman, Federal Road Safety Commission (FSRC), of the house of representatives to facilitate gainful employment, not just for his constituents, but the entire state”
The group added that have a compilation of what Akinfolarin achieved when he represented his constituents at the House of Representatives, if he has a bigger portfolio, we can rest be rest assured that he will do more. As a group, we have no doubt about his integrity, and his commitment to the people.
“We beckon on him at this time to salvage and restore the lost glory of the state”
“As a group, we will support him in whatever capacity by mobilising human and material resources to see that this dream come to fruition”, the statement read.
