How to reduce insecurity by 70% — Interior minister
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has said that insecurity in any nation is reduced by more than 70 per cent if its borders are secured.
While delivering a keynote address at a breakfast meeting as a Special Guest, organised by Business Day in Abuja, Tunji-Ojo added that a country that cannot secure its borders and security personnel would always be over-pressured.
He reiterated his commitment to ensure the country’s border is secured, saying, “I have no excuse whatsoever not to secure the nation’s borders. President Bola Tinubu to solve problems.
“We must work the talk in line with the present administration’s slogan of Renewed Hope”, he said.
He added that the responsibility of the Ministry of Interior is beyond passport issuance, stating that he would not want to be remembered as the Minister who solves passport problems, “because there are bigger things to solve”.
“Also any country that cannot critically analyse, dictate and determine who comes in and who goes out of its country is prone to insecurity,” he stated.
