World Values Day: Group celebrates with recycling initiative

As World Value Day is marked today, October 19, 2023, a social impact organisation, Shape A Child, will celebrate the day with an innovative initiative, called ‘RECYCLE.’

A statement signed by the Founder and Managing Director, Shape A Child, Izehi Anuge, on Thursday, said the World Values Day’s global theme, was ‘Values bring us together.’

She added that Shape A Child was poised to inspire and engage corporate organisations, schools, partners, and communities in a transformative journey toward a value-driven society.

Anuge revealed that in its commitment to sustainability and responsible citizenship, Shape A Child, would ignite environmental stewardship in learners.

She said, “Shape A Child introduces “RECYCLE,” an innovative initiative: two groups of young environmental champions in schools will embark on recycling projects. These projects, designed for completion within four weeks, challenge participants to create solutions using materials that are at least 75 per cent waste material. The goal is to nurture creativity, responsibility, and sustainability, instilling values that drive positive change in our environment.

“World Values Day, celebrated annually, offers Shape A Child a unique platform to champion the cause of values education and its profound impact on individuals, children, adolescents, communities, and corporate culture. This year, Shape A Child is focused on fostering collective awareness and a call to action, recognising that values serve as the common thread that unites us all.”

She added that this year’s World Values Day theme emphasised unity, collaboration, and inclusion, saying these values were profoundly important for corporate entities to integrate into their organisational culture.

“As we celebrate World Values Day 2023, let us unite for a brighter, values-driven future. Good values are not only essential in shaping children and young adults but are also vital for businesses and society at large as they reflect personal moral and ethical values. We are thrilled to celebrate values not only on World Values Day but throughout October.

“Our collaborations with corporate organisations, individuals, and schools aligned with our mission will foster a values-based consciousness and social and environmental responsibility in our society. From our values-based workshops in organisations, an art exhibition, and the RECYCLE, REBUILD, RECONNECT projects in select schools across Nigeria, which are driven by me and my fellow World Values Day Schools Ambassador, we are committed to creating a ripple effect of positive change in collaboration with others that extends beyond individuals and institutions, shaping a brighter future for all.”
