Ondo Senator, Adegbonmire greets Deji of Akure, Akure indigenes over 2023 Ulefunta festival
The lawmaker representing Ondo Central Senatorial District, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, has congratulated the Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo, Odundun II on the occasion of 2023 Ulefunta festival.
Ulefunta is the crest of all festivals in Akure. It is the traditional annual leave of the monarch during which he would not be seen in public for seven days. He usually uses the seven-day period of seclusion to pray for peace and development of the town.
Adegbonmire in a statement issued in Abuja, described the age-long historic celebration as a platform for the sustenance of peace and showcase the rich cultural heritage of Akure.
He also extended his greetings to the people of Akure and emphasised that the Deji of Akure remains a rallying point for sons and daughters of Akure Kingdom.
Adegbonmire, while pointing out that the festival is symbolic, noted that Ulefunta festival has rejuvenated the rich Akure culture and tradition to the international community, and a unique way of convergence of all Akure sons and daughters to contribute meaningfully to the development of the city.
“I wished the monarch a fulfilling Ulefunta festival, and equally pray to God to grant him long life in sound health.
He said, “On behalf of the people of Ondo Central Senatorial District, I felicitate with the Deji of Akure, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo, Odundun II, as he celebrates Ulefunta festival.
“The annual festival provides a platform for sons and daughters to come together under one roof to offer prayers for peace, unity and progress of Akure and environs.
