Presidential Election Petition Tribunal Ruling Was Advocacy For Tinubu –Chido Nwangwu

Nigerian–born journalist and founder of the USAfrica Inc., Dr. Chido Nwangwu has described the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) ruling affirming the INEC declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election as an advocacy for Tinubu rather than a legal judgement.

The Appeal Court Justices, in a unanimous decision last week, dismissed the petitions by the Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied People’s Movement (APM), seeking to nullify the presidential election.
Nwangwu, who is the author of the soon-to-be-released book titled, “MLK, Mandela & Achebe: Power, Leadership and Identity,” however, said that the ruling of the Tribunal was characterised by “ridiculous postulations and fictive impositions” which makes it read like an advocacy for the former Lagos State governor rather than a judgement.
“A judgement would have meant an even-handed, realistic interpretation of arguments and contentions,” he posited.
Speaking further on the PEPT decision, the historian lampooned the ruling as embarrassing. He stressed his position by referring to the arguments which the Justices hinged on to dismiss the allegation of forfeiture of proceeds of narcotics in the Chicago against Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “There is no denying the fact that the issue of forfeiture exists but rather what the Tribunal embarrassingly argued was that since Tinubu is still traveling to the United States he couldn’t have had any criminal culpability,” he said.
