Gunmen Kidnap 10 Passengers On Benue State Transport Firm, Coming From Makurdi To Lagos

Some gunmen have reportedly hijacked two fully loaded buses belonging to Benue Links, a Benue State transport company, and kidnapped about 10 passengers.

The incident happened on Sunday when the buses which loaded in Makurdi, the Benue State capital for Lagos but were intercepted along Ajaokuta/Okene road suburb of Kogi State.

Reports heard that the gunmen laid ambush on the two vehicles, intercepted them, and led ten passengers into the bush, in the incident that occurred between 2pm and 3 pm on Sunday.

A staff of the Benue Links transport company, who spoke to journalists on condition that his name would not be mentioned as he was authorised to speak for the company confirmed the unfortunate incident.

He said, “It is true the incident happened along Ajaokuta/Okene road yesterday between 2pm and 3pm.

“Two vehicles were involved, and ten passengers were abducted. The incident was reported at Adogo Police station near Okene.”

The official appealed to government to beef up security along the road for adequate surveillance.
