APC Senator, Udende Sacked By Tribunal In Benue, Loses Seat To Gabriel Suswam
The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, has sacked Emmanuel Udende of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the senator elect for Benue North East Senatorial District.
The tribunal has therefore declared Senator Gabriel Suswam of the People Democratic Party, (PDP) as the authentic winner.
Recall that INEC announced in February that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate lost his seat to Emmanuel Udende of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Suswam polled 107,303 votes in Saturday’s election, while Udende got 141,405 votes.
Until the tribunal declared him as winner, Suswam’s defeat had suggested the poor showing of PDP candidates in his senatorial zone, where the three House of Representatives seats in the district were all taken by the APC.
The tribunal sitting on Friday lasted for over three hours, during which the APC senator was sacked and replaced by the former Benue State governor.
