EFCC interrogates former Kano Governor, Kwankwaso
The former Governor of Kano State, Engr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, was on Saturday vigorously interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of financial impropriety, allocation of government properties to cronies and abuse of office. The former governor who was a senator in the Eighth National Assembly, visited the office of the EFCC in Abuja to respond to an earlier invitation from the commission. The EFCC had earlier invited Kwankwaso in September which he did not respond to, but voluntarily went to the EFCC office on Saturday.
There were insinuations of a petition by retired public servants who were in the service of the Kano State Government during the Kwankwaso administration, particularly his second tenure.
The retired employees were said to have petitioned the EFCC alleging that former Governor, a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had misappropriated N10 billion pension remittances between 2011 and 2015. They alleged that the former governor diverted the fund to finance a housing project which he allocated to his cronies.
The former governor was, however, not detained after the interrogation.
