PDP prepares to host 6,000 delegates at national convention
SIX thousand delegates from across the 36 states and 774 Local Government Areas are expected to take part in the national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party slated to hold from October 30-31, 2021.
Chairman of the Convention Committee who is also the Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, revealed this to newsmen after inaugurating 15 sub-committees of the convention committee, in Abuja, on Thursday.
He said, “We are expecting over 6000 delegates by our new constitution and we’re fully prepared for that. We’re expecting everybody in every ward that is a delegate to attend the convention.
“As you can see we’re here with all the 15 subcommittee members. The chairman, the vice chairman and the secretaries are here. I’ve given them directions.
“I’ve given them a template as to what is expected of them and they will go back and adequately prepare and submit the report back to me in the next five days, after which the main committee will sit and approve.”
Earlier, Fintiri inaugurated the Chairmen, Secretaries and other members of the 15 sub-committees after the National Organising Secretary, Col. Austin Akabundu (retd.), called out their names.
The sub-committees and their officials include: Gov. Udom Emmanuel- Constitutional Amendment, Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi- Zoning, Mohammed Bello Adoke- Screening and Senator Ike Ekweremadu- Screening Appeal.
Others include: Gov. Nyesom Wike – Special Duties, Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa- Accreditation. Solomon Arase- Security, Ahmadu Fintiri- Electoral (statutory), Godwin Obaseki- Publicity, Bala Mohammed- Venue and Mariya Waziri- Welfare & Entertainment.
