The Bible Society of Nigeria joined the blind community in Lagos to commemorate International White Cane Safety Day, emphasising its commitment to promoting awareness and support for the rights and needs of visually impaired individuals.

The event in commemoration of the White Cane Safety Day, which honours the achievements of blind individuals, emphasising the white cane as a symbol of blindness and independence, was held in Lagos on Tuesday.

Speaking at the event, the General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of BSN, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, represented by the society’s Manager of Public Relations and Media, Mr Benjamin Mordi, said, “The society works to eliminate barriers to accessing the Word of God. For the past 10 years, we have recognised the visually impaired by marking White Cane Safety Day. BSN has committed significant resources to making the Braille Bible accessible to the blind.”

Sanusi noted that BSN initiated a Bible quiz competition for the blind to encourage their engagement with the Word of God.
