Ondo police arrest suspected killer of AAUA student

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested one Olubodun Sanni, a final year student in the Geology department of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, for killing a fellow student of the institution, Ifeoluwa Adekunle.

Adekunle, a 300-level student in the Department of Economics, was found in a pool of her blood two weeks ago, in her apartment located off-campus of the institution.

She was allegedly stabbed to death in her room by the assailant, who also took her iPhone away. Since then the police had been on the trail of the suspect.

Parading the suspect at the police headquarters in Akure, on Tuesday, the state capital, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Abayomi Oladipo said the suspect allegedly stole the deceased’s phone after killing her.

According to the police boss, the suspect was arrested by the use of modern technology which was used to track the stolen phone to the 21-year-old suspect.

He said, “One of the few achievements we want to showcase is the arrest of a murder suspect involved in the killing of a student of AAUA. On 2nd of February, 2024, a case of suspected murder was reported to the Police that one Adekunle Adebisi Ifeoluwa ‘F’ aged 20yrs, a 300-level student of the institution was found in a pool of blood at her off-campus hostel and was rushed to the university health centre and later referred to a Specialist Hospital in Ikare Akoko where she was confirmed dead.

“In the course of an investigation, the police discovered that the deceased phone was missing. The police through the use of modern technology traced the phone to one Olubodun Sanni ‘m’ aged 21yrs, a final year student of the same school who is also a neighbour to the deceased in the hostel.

“The recovered phone led to further questioning of the suspect who gave details of what happened in his confessional statement, how he entered the deceased room, stabbed her in the chest with a knife, and stole her iPhone XR. ”

Oladipo said the suspect would soon be charged in court after completing the investigation.
