A statement by the school said that all the three teams qualiied for the one step to the finals and two steps to NASA Space Station in the US.
It explained that team ACE was working on eradicating alcohol-induced cancer premising its endeavour on the scientific confirmation that alcohol was a direct cause of cancer as the ethanol in alcoholic drinks breaks down to acetaldehyde, a known carcinogen which is a toxic compound.
“It read, Team ACE is creating an app that contains enlightenment campaigns on how alcohol causes cancer, rehabilitation plans for alcohol-addicts, alternative sources of income for brewery workers and palliative care for cancer patients.
Team ACE consists of Oluwanifemi Adebara, Tolulope Doherty, Ogunjobi Muizz, Owube Munachimso, Abagun Busayo.”
Also, Team SAE is also creating an app that contains enlightenment campaigns on health risks associated with smoking, rehabilitation plans for those addicted to smoking and alternative sources of income for tobacco farmers.
According to the statement, Team SAE comprises of Olarewaju Seyi, Nwofor Chibuikem, Sameerah Lawan, Sadiq Kamaldeen and Awotoye Temilayo.
It added, “Team CHE is working on getting clean and healthy environments all over the world to mitigate the annual loss of millions of plant and animal lives to unclean and unhealthy environments via land, water and air pollution. It is therefore creating an app that contains enlightenment campaigns on the benefits of having our environments clean at all times and the health risks and dangers associated with unclean environments.”
Team CHE comprises of Olubitan Korede, Kosisochukwu, Ogunmoroti Kayode, Awe David and Afolabi Onabanjo.
The team’s teacher and coach was Mr Shakiru Olaitan.
